Ok lads been a busy bee to day, I managed to roll out an upgrade and a repair. One upgrade i have had to remove and bin off.

The blower vents, i have found on the landy is abit weak, so i fitted a neat little upgrade there.

Got another one to sort out, but that will wait.

This Censored caused some right old problems with the steering!
new one wound on, and what a fight we had, but anyway all is well and the bearing has been tightened on the passenger side, we would have replaced, but that's going to be a job and a half! Due to a bracket been wound on too tight!

Another thing that's bugged the life out of me, when i bought it, was the damaged Hazard switch. the plastic surround has seen better days too.

so off with the old

Now this upgrade looks good but the fitment is way off and i mean way off! compared to the OEM panel.
I tried to tidy this area up

This is the panel i tried to fit for two hours Neutral

Looks ok, but i tell you what the top of the dash part is miles off and the screws will not secure it, So i have Emailed the seller for a Refund.

But a part from that we had a successful afternoon! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

well I could be more busy I guess, but then again we are just starting off really. My dad is toying with the ideas of having the Demisters too.
Well I am hoping to get a set of wheels next as I have made a deal on them. just need to save for tyres
I think the next move is to sort that interior light and back door, so that I can have at least a working rear end. also I think I will push for a rear tyre swing too, maybe even side steps too!
I do have a few things i want to do to old trusty too, ( Peugeot 306) so i may have to put a few things on hold.
But at least safety is practically sorted now, unless you count the tyres. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Id have to wait and see on that one L110CDL, regarding the tyres. Its the back shift pay x3 that will pay for the tyres which means no other upgrades or fixes Crying or Very sad Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Seems like you are having fun!

Having demisters for the side windows is helpful - I made my own using extra piping inside the dash but I had the dash apart at the time so was worth it. Yours are a good bolt-on addition.

The new panel that covers the heater controls on the right hand side of the instrument binnacle - what is its intended purpose?

Retroanaconda, the replacement panel was going to be used to tidy that area of the dash up, and maybe an area for me to install some extra switches for lights. But sadly the panel is a really bad fit, looks ok there but getting the top part to line up, is a right nightmare, I spent nearly 1 hour trying to get the controls to line up in the holes, then one hour trying to get the thing to line up, I know landy's are not exactly square but the way this lined up you would think it was just thrown on. So I removed it and reverted it back. I am not spoiling a good car for the sake of a bad fitting 3 party item. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I bought one of those side panel things and can confirm the fit is crap!

Could not get it all to line up neatly so removed it and put it in a box somewhere.

From memory the oem side has a "lug" or clip at the bottom moulded into it which slots over the edge and helps align everything whereas the aftermarket version has no lug so relies entirely on 2 tiny screws and where the vent controls want to be.

I feel you frustration as otherwise it would be a really nice addition Big Cry

Glad the other bits are going well though Thumbs Up Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

shaggydog, I was going to go for their cup/ bottle holder unit, that goes around the gear stick, which locks on to the fuse box, but if its anything to go by this panel, I think I will stay clear.
You are right though, it would have been a neat little upgrade, but as you say I don't think its made properly at all. Even then getting the two screws for the control assembly was a faff on.
I emailed the seller, and they said just return it for a full refund, £30 quid back in the pot, which can go towards something else.

For the record, stay clear of the RDX Side Pod
edit, after having a look at the RDX Cup Centre Console review on ebay, looks like that's crap too! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Anyway

I tried to repair this

This one wouldn't fasten down at all! with the screw that was holding the old unit in, Then when I did mange to get the unit to fasten down, and shut the door the Censored cracked! The old unit seems to fit better for some reason, How can that be?

Also another thing I fitted too, was a AA badge

Got a mud interior light on order and a new gear nob (both are knackered)
I will be looking at sorting out the rear door electrics and rear door, That really needs a door card, loom and a spare tyre swing.
I may look at rear carpet too before I fit the rear door rear seal. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

For some reason the interior light system isn't working, We did do some tests and put power to it to see what the story is, its a bright Censored i tell you! Only thing is why the hell have they put a Red LED in?? god knows what use that is.
Gearknob replacement, looks like i may need to get the new one threaded or buy a genuine one, The Bearmach one looks naff. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
