I would keep the tow ball off, I only have one on mine out of necessity. I think it looks better without

my dads has an adjustable one, which i like the idea of, Plus they go on the rear bumper i am after too, so i can ditch all the full works what's on the back of it and go from there.
But at the moment everything is on hold at the moment, Insurances, mots are here now  plus with work not having the over time on, i am on basic wages  Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

How are you finding the new shocks now you've put a few miles on them? I'm contemplating changing mine... I'm unsure what are fitted, they look new but are just plain black so its anyones guess. The ride especially at the back is a bit rough over potholes etc... 1993 200Tdi Defender 90

lot better, since it has had time to settle down. Worth changing mind, and fit poly bushes like I have, Saves you the hassle. I bought new galv parts too, and got them painted up before fitting. My dad wasn't really happy, "kept barking on, about oh we could do have had it done now" But I wanted nice and neat under there, when he saw the parts painted, he sharp changed his tune.

Another quick fix today, was an MOT failure. My passenger seat belt had a nasty habit of locking up when you tried to put it around you. You had to be very gentle on pulling it out otherwise it would jam up. When I was travelling down to the convoy my sister had a right job in putting it on, due to it getting worse and worse. Got to the point where she would re clip it back in rather than letting it retract back in, every time she got out. So since I came back last week, I decided to use the 306 for best part of the week until I sorted out this safety problem out. We thought we had fixed it before, and all was well. But what ever it is causing it to jam, has returned. For safety reasons I bought a replacement unit, I know these are expensive but you cannot put a price on safety at all. Also for the sake of a 10 min swop over best to play safe.
I should have really changed before, rather than unjamming it So feel free to tell me off  Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I shall change my rear shocks then and see if it improves the ride any.. well done on changing the seatbelt.. I still have my centre one to do.. though its just a static lap belt... 1993 200Tdi Defender 90

id change all four, just to keep the full works in order.
I know its a few quid to do, but worth it mind If weather is ok, I might have a look at changing my bump stops to poly, ( I have the parts here)
Then that's another tick list sorted out suspension wise, then its insurance time, I am really cutting things bloody short!! Mot for the 306, insurance for the landy, then MOT at the end of May, which could result in this been pulled off the road and been sorted out.  It happened last year with the 306, a weekends worth of work turned out to be two month job  Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

here is yesterdays upgrade, I tell you something mind just aswell I had the parts, My dad decided to remove my old bump stops with out even asking if I had replacements 1st!
Just because I had decided to spray the nuts down with some wd40 stuff 1st! He always just dives in at a job with out asking! Well anyway the old ones come off with out a bother and the replacements went straight on, so that's ticked off now, Just need mot and insurance now before I can play again.

insurance renewed, 450 quid fully comp, which isn't bad for a 4x4 2.5 plus for the area I live in too. Its only a 70 quid more than my HDI, which really hasn't gone down any further in the last three years.
Hoping to see about getting the 306 through the mot next week, and we can then see what the story is for this MOT wise. At least I will have one car sorted for work and back, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |
