Am not convinced with 50th market or the elevated S1 prices right now. Seen some softening recently.

As usual, money markets giving poor returns, new money goes into classic cars and then POP ! 1951 80" S1 2.0

It seems a lot , nearly 18k with fees and the other one in the same sale didn't sell at a similar price.

I wonder where the top is ? As you say money has little growth value so invest in something ( anything ) HR064 Hampshire and Berkshire 4x4 Response

Top 50th sale price so far is £43k and average since May this year is £26k. Better than money in bank.

I was offered one, with under 70k miles, UK car, decent condition for £15,500 earlier this year (March), and another with slightly higher miles for £16k; therefore, I think that although there are a few being advertised at high prices, you can find a decent UK car for under £18k

If you're offered any more like that, let me know if you don't want them.

Indeed. I'm on the lookout for a 50th needing a rebuild/rechassis/restoration Thumbs Up

That's the hard bit Mikey - finding one like that. If you look at the 50th Register, there's not many blank spaces.

But, the Holy Grail is still out there Wink

The 50th I was offered at £16k ended up selling for £13,500 in the summer of this year (2016).

Dealers will advertise them for any price if they are there on SOR. I'd like to hear what they'd pay cash for one; I'd guess under £20k, unless it was perfect and even then, they'd want to be low to mid £20ks

There is a non-GB one on eBay - £18k asking. Probably a Japanese car, which as the Japanese take better car of their cars and most prefectures don't salt the roads, shouldn't put people off. Looks tidy.

I think the one on eBay is the one that didn't sell at Norwich, so it is a Japanese one. Nothing wrong with them and, in fact, may be in better nick due to unsalted roads. I'd say it's about the right price for an import.

I'll bet you wouldn't sell that for £18k. Mr. Green

If it was the one sold in July in Scotland, all original, with 60,000 miles on the clock for £13,500, he could sell it for £18k and make a decent profit Wink

I bought the £13.5k one which was chronically under sold by its owner, I then sold it in a private deal for more than stated below. I also acquired a similar spec one for £8.5k which was in a mess, after a restoration that sold in a deal worth £19k. The other one is currently getting a nut and bolt rebuild on a galv chassis.

They are out there if you look and get lucky and I think that jap one is very good value considering GB model prices.

I notice the sticky thread on the 50th forum doesn't mention cars like these but the information appears to be selective. I would suggest that one at £13,500 and one at £8,500 would bring the average being quoted down. Even without them, some of the figures quoted are advertised prices and not sold. How can you take an average market price from that?
