yikes, the problem is getting worse!

this morning on startup, there was a large white cloud of smoke, which didn't go away for at least 5 min, even while driving.

I ran a scan and there were a lot of faults about injectors:

and also these:

Now my battery is dying, could a low battery cause this? --

Normally not, the Defender isn't "battery sensible" like the D3 or D4 go or no go..... Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

Dammit, I was hoping it was just the battery. Sad

In any case, the battery is 7 years old and is busy dying, so replacing it won't hurt. I will report back once I get the car back from the auto electrician. --

Not yet James, landy is in the shop this week for the glow plugs & injectors to be removed & tested while I'm going to Singapore.

I will report back once the tests have been done. --

James, that is correct, I have been driving it like this since June.

BUT, if the injectors are fubar and leak too much diesel, you run the risk of burning holes through the pistons. There is also the risk of the engine oil being diluted too much, which can cause the crank to snap.

I have avoided doing any long distance driving (anything over 40km) just in case. --

she is not burning excessive diesel or loosing it and engine oil is all good.

would that indicate more likely to be the PRRV? Cheers

Just heard back from my indie: injectors were tested and are fine.

Glow plugs are also fine.

Not sure where to go from here. --

United Kingdom 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Alaska White
im having somewhat similar issues to those in this thread so im watching this too. loss of power and low down torque- occasional pulsing or lumpy idle, checked a lot of things and autologiced etc etc, wrote it off as a minor gremlin on mechanics advice but I definitiely think im going to change the VCV - does anyone who has done it think they could write a tutorial or does anyone have a link to a video or summat? TIA

Merry Christmas n all that..

Just did mine, the most useful post I found was:
https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743584.html#743584

The only thing I'd add is to make sure you get a good quality VCV - there are suggestions in the linked thread. As it happens, I got mine from BAS, which worked out well for me. Finally, most of the linked thread is around the 2.4, can't comment on relevance to the 2.2.
