Strange Headlights and Speaker?
Ciao,

Last week one of my headlight, low beam bulbs blew, about a week later the other side went. High beam remains serviceable... the vehicle is a 18 months old Puma and the bulbs were Philips night breakers.

I will replace the headlight bulbs today and check voltage but I find it strange how they went within a week of each other.

I have also noticed that for about 30 seconds after I key on, (but not start the engine) I get a quiet buzz from the front left speaker.

Any ideas?

It's not unusual for bulbs to blow at around the same time.

Happened to me recently (twice). One bulb blew...replaced...and within 2 weeks the other one blew.

It's like they have a pre-programmed "life" Smile

Can't answer about the speaker noise tho - you sure it's the speaker and not something else (a relay or pump) behind? Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Not so strange perhaps. Two bulbs made in the same batch with the same materials, shipped and handled in the same way, fitted at the same time, and suject to identical use. In a way it is quite reassuring that that they lasted the same duration.

I find that it is entirely usual for identical bulbs bought and fitted at the same time to fail at about the same time.

Yep, extra brightness bulbs of all makes generally claim a shorter life than standard equivalents too.
I always change headlight bulbs in pairs as it seems easiest when I'm doing one to do the other too Cheers, David
Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8.
