How does the Td5 engine & R380 box compare in dimensions and weight to the Cummins and ZF box? 1999 Defender TD5 110

I sleep a little. just have to keep making a list and stroking it out. Then make a new one. one step at a time. Typical Armagh man just bull on lol.
Whole package is around 200kg heavier than the td5. But the Cummins makes 450nm of torque... at idle lol more than the td5 at full chat. So its defiantly more gutsy than the td5 but does lack the revs so 1.1003 tbox helps along with a 3k+governor spring. |

Had a big push there over the weekend and ill break it into 2 parts, first the front end, now together will light guards and air con grille fitted.
@mcma1 kindly donated some light guards which needed a wee touch up and paint before going onto the 130, really like the look of them. Put some foam on the back to stop them scratching and rattling on the wings Click image to enlarge I had to make a plate at the top to make the aircon grille fit a non aircon wagon. rivenutted the original then added the bracket and drilled Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge then 2 lower brackets out of some angle and rivenuts in the wings Click image to enlarge Then drill and rivenut the lightguards onto the wings Click image to enlarge Threw the grille on just for now ill have to get something sorted as it badly cracked, might make something. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Couldnt have turned out better in my opinion, got some tired bits to replace like the grille but im loving the clean but slightly modded look thats actually hiding a monster vision ive had is coming together. -Ged |

Been working away on the trans tunnel. I found an old tunnel in the shed, sliced it in half and added around 100mm in the middle with some aluminium angle keeping the OEM look.
Click image to enlarge I took the standard closure plate for the bulkhead and gave it a similar treatment. Click image to enlarge Test fitting Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then fabricating a cover plate for the large hole out of some aluminum plate. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Get the hole cut and seal and rivet it up job should be a good one. -Ged |
