Japseroony - Flood Hero!!!!

Not the best of pics but have a look at this:

A full dual carraigeway completely flooded this afternoon. You may be able to just see a bus stuck fast right in the middle - full of pensioners.

Russel (Japseroony) happened to pass and immediately went to the rescue. The water was up to the windows and the people had been on the bus for quite some time and were understandably quite distressed. The emergency services were stretched dealing with flooding in nearby Morpeth so all we had was a lone policeman who had waded in to take a couple of the old dears off - until Russel got there.

His Black 90 TDCi pulled the 30 seater coach through metre high flood water to safety.

I had stood by with no tow rope and unable to help but his beast complete with snorkel, winch and Bell Auto's extra power was a sight to behold.

For his trouble the truck is now full of water with it getting in to the seat boxes and electrics. It didn't stop running though.

Until today I had never met Russel and only recognised him from this forum - a small world.

Hope you and the truck are ok Russel and manage to dry out - there are many people thankful for you and your 4x4 today!

All the best

Ken

Yes well done Japseroony Bow down ,
My hat goes of to you for the superb efforts you made today to help the general public that were in need of assistance, most would have just driven by and not helped.

I was amazed when you phoned me to tell me what you had been doing and i was actualy struggeling to imagine the extent of the water as you were describing it to me.
This picture defenetly show the full extent now and WOOOW i cant belive the floods were actualy that bad.

I must admit this does show just some of the capeabilitys of the new puma when used as a well equipped landrover should be used.

As i said on the phone m8 , if you need anything regarding the electrics im here.
I will also have my dealer diag kit at the peterborough landrover show so we can do some chqs there if needed also.

Regards Pete

United Kingdom 2008 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Manual Java Black

Hi Ken & Pete,

We were just out for a bit of a splash about in the puddles, seeing the floods and being amazed at the amount of rain that was actually falling.

We came across 6 cars prior to the bus being stuck all with the drivers sitting in their cars with wet feet.

Earlier in the day, at the same place as the bus was swimming, we came across a woman with a 3 month old baby just standing knee deep in the water holding the baby in a complete state of shock. Managed to get her out which is the second car down on your pic (as well as the other car) - believe it of not that car was at least 3 metres out of the water when we left it so the water must have risen a further 2 foot by the time we helped out with the bus in the space of one & half hours!!!

I was trying to pull the bus out backwards but there was no towing eye or anything else to get a tow rope on so had to go out forwards going into the deeper water!!

The landy is running ok but the ABS, Traction Control and hand break lights are all on!!

All carpets and the seats are sodden and we have had 2 heaters in the car trying to dry her out - one of which blew up yesterday as the damp must have gotten into the motor!!!

A good day for Land Rovers and a bad one for cars, homes and the unfortunate that have been flooded out.

Russell.
