Canada 2000 Defender 110 Td5 XS CSW Epsom Green
Smoothest riding suspension set up 110 CSW
looking for input and suggestions...

My 2000 MY 110 CSW has factory HD springs still on it. I am very happy with the drivability and feel of this 110. Everytime I drive my wifes MK III Rangie I think perhaps my suspension set up in the 110 could be a tad better? For fun I have done some research but other than air ride, nothing definitive on a smooth riding 110 seems to be out there. I do a lot of blacktop driving, but my passion is off road, expedition stuff, off the beaten path so to speak. Its a Td5, winch bumper with 11500 lb winch, rear swing away wheel carrier and usually has two people in it on most trips. All crago is pulled by a 1/4 ton M416 conversion expedition trailer so the rear usually only has some clothes a fridge and some chairs.

So what would you lads and lasses have to suggest for a smoother ride than what I have?

Isn't it the shocks that affect how hard the ride is?
My 1989 Ferrari Mondial t had a switch on the dash with three settings for the suspension (soft, medium and hard)
The settings changed the damping with motorized adjusters on the top of each shock.
Obviously no changes were made to the springs, which being a Ferrari l assume were fairly hard.

In "soft" it floated over bad roads like an old Cortina.
In "medium" it was firm, like you'd expect from a car of that type.
In "hard" it was rock hard....for track use according to the handbook.

So, would this not also work with a Defender? Softer shocks = smoother ride.

Speak to a proper Old Man Emu dealer and after telling them what sort of loads you carry and over what terrain, they can combine springs with dampers and be able to meet your needs.

Try OME springs and Koni raid shocks, a friend has that on his 110 and I like that alot.

I might look at it for my 110. I use it on the road with light loads and it is quite bouncy at the back.
Running with a full tank of diesel makes it a fair bit better.
I fitted anti roll bars (not standard on 2005 110 CSW) and that made a big improvement on corners, it used to roll like a ship in a gale.

Standard Lr progressive Springs and Koni Shocks, and upgrade the anti roll bars, most of the expedition springs are too hard unless your loaded up. 285 tyres too will help.
