Down on Power
Hello all,

I'm new to the forum, I've been browsing topics etc but can't seem to diagnose the problem with my 04 td5.

It all started when I fitted the EGR bypass, we went on a long run and I noticed some black smoke when accelerating and power was down a bit. To cut a long story short the issue seemed to block the cat and blow the exhaust manifold.

I have fixed the manifold and replaced the downpipe with a decat downpipe, however it's not been running right since. I still have no power from what seems to be a misfire under load.

To try and solve the lack of power I have replaced all of the turbo hoses, replaced the injector wiring loom (no oil in ECU, but there was some in the harness), I have also checked and lubricated the turbo actuator.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Cheers, Owen

Have you plugged it in and are there any codes? Try that first if not already done. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

Unplug the maf and have a good run, also did you change the injector loom if there was oil in the harness?

Edit, just seen you've changed the injector loom. Ray

Thanks I will try unplugging the MAF and see I replaced it less than 3 months ago (using a genuine part). I guess any crap going through could have knackered it.

Unfortunately I don't have a code reader, however I might have to look into getting one.

Clean the MAP sensor as well.

When you fitted the bypass pipe did you use a gasket and is it properly torqued up and fully connected?

You can check the MAF is working with a voltmeter, I believe Paddocks have a video on their website showing how.

Also check there are no splits in the intercooler, usually shows by excess oil showing.
