For me this thread opened up a festering wound.......
This forum has been a great source of valuable information and inspirational to me and I have made some very good acquaintances as a result over the 7 odd years I have been here. I would also like to think my contributions may have been helpful too and made a difference and was useful too? The fact I was threatened with a ban under such circumstances has been a stick in my craw for long enough. Time to cough it up, which I have. Apologies and thank you to you all and a probable/possible farewell post? Who knows? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! hi - I did read the first 20 pages and was none the wiser....... (unless of course A.F. isn't a broker which I thought they were?) ....2nd thing I got wrong. I assumed the gagging was from your underwriter and nothing to do with this site. |

Quite agree, I don't believe for a second any judge in his right mind would find her actions correct. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Whilst some people may have had good experience with the NFU others have not.
The NFU is a mutual insurance company where local branches are independent operations often privately owned. The trouble there is that there is no consistency between the different independently owned local office. We laugh at the NFU tv adverts as we refer to the NFU as the No F$%^&*( Use Insurance company. We used to have multiple insurance policies with the NFU with total annual premiums of 8-10k/year. After about 8 years of no claims we had a single claim of about £2.5k then the trouble started. A single theft event and they wanted to hit 2 off our insurance policies which meant 2 excesses. Cutting a long story short after several complaints they sent a loss adjuster around who took all of 2 minutes to decide the local branch of the NFU were talking out of their collective rear orifices. He was gob smacked hen I told him to take photos of the horses in the field as the NFU did not believe one side of our drive was adjacent to fields. He was further surprised when I told him to take a photo of the other side of our drive. I said the wall was 20 ft high as it run down the back next to the wall of the neighbouring houses. No I had not put a tape measure against the wall but they are 2 storey houses. Yes on the word of the loss adjuster they paid out n full against one policy plus various extra fees for their stupid reactions. Guess what due to their stupid comments/reactions we moved all our policies to another company. In our opinion the insurance company is only as good as when you need a justifiable claim. Our local NFU is good whilst you pay the premiums but are absolutely useless if you have to make a claim. Brendan |

Agreed Brendan. I would also add that much also rides on whether you are on first name terms with your local NFU agent, if you are chummy with them all is well but if your relationship is more businesslike then they are just like any other insurance outfit. Steve.

update.
just found out that all the occupants didn't after all get injured but their 18 month old zetec ford fiesta which had a minor (c£300 repair) was written off and they bought it back and repaired it!!! ??? I smell a rat. how could a circa £8k - 10k car have gotten written off? what trick are they playing? update ....just come down off the ceiling. mis-read the witness statement. the fiesta was written off, owner paid value of car less £500 (excess). how on earth can a circa £10k car get written off with only a minor cosmetic dent (their words), paint work not even damaged! I still smell a rat. |
