Very informative. I have been looking at this type of thing for a short while now but haven't committed due to, in my own opinion, a concerning lack of quality information from the experts. Have you experienced any rear props haft vibration issues or anything else. Thanks for the great information.

Thanks, John Fair

I did around 30 miles last night, including a stretch on the M9 motorway. I'm not a fast driver (she's not a Ferrari!) but no propshaft vibes evident at all. It's like a magic carpet ride compared to the original USW Smile Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

When I put softer rear springs on my 90 the rear would sag a bit in faster corners. For the confidence and reassurance factor I put on an up rated rear ARB and it made the rear feel much more planted. Hence my earlier question.

All of be above plus more are the caracteristics I'm looking to change. When you changed just the rear arb how much did it help with the rear steering feel. I'm very aware of it when doing the roadwork slalom. That and the annoying fact the marginal rear hight trips some of the European tolls as a class 2. - over 2mtr and it doesn't fit in my garage and its like a rag doll being thrown down the road when you pass a truck at 90 and........🤔🤔🤔

The 90 drove really well with the new ARB. No soft rear and corner control and handling was much improved. I assume the 110 will be improved well.

Just coming back to this thread...looked at the date... and coincidence it's exactly TWO YEARS today since I wrote the first part.

I'm still absolutely delighted wit the ride. So I have:
* Rear end as described here, with the COILSPRINGS springs, Isolators and Koni shocks.
* Front is still standard but with KONI shocks

I never fitted the uprated ARB because I am so happy with the ride... especially if I run slightly lower-than-the-manual-suggests tyre pressures at the back (maybe 35-38 instead of the 48psi in the manual!!!) - especially unladen. I find 38 psi does not seem to worsen fuel consumption but gives a great ride.

I did a bit of offroading in the last 2 years. When doing the Highland Safari event, I didn't clout/ground my towbar any more than any other 110 with e a towbar, No problems towing either Whistle

Very pleased! may well sell the uprated "Alive" ARB! (anyone interested???) Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Top job Martin, you seem to have it really sorted,......now you only need to go LS3, as you know you have the handling to support it?!

@ MartinK

How much of the improvement would you say is down to the springs and how much to the konis? I fitted standard springs with konis and the improvement overall was very impressive, especially at the front but the rear still feels too hard

I'm very tempted to try 30% softer and 2cm lower for the rear only and use air bag helpers for when I'm carrying heavy loads.

Opinions welcome. Very Happy
