2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Corris Grey
[WITHDRAWN] Highly specced 64 plate Corris grey 110 SW XS
Hi All

Following an earlier thread asking for thoughts on how to value my car, I've decided to put a for sale ad up and assess interest. No rush to sell. I would like to sell to a fellow forum member. eBay ultimately beckons if not though.

I would like £40k. Actually I'd like more ( Very Happy ) but I think £40k hopefully provides a fair balance point between what I've spent, but at the same time taking a fair hit for depreciation. Only time will tell ...

So, I bought my car new from Williams Landrover in Manchester. The factory order was as follows:

110 SW XS Corris grey
CD/Radio upgrade
Tow Ball drop plate
Premium seating
Carpet floor trim

The purchase price for the above was £35,775.

In addition, the following dealer fitted accessories were fitted by Williams:

Loadspace mat
Front and rear mats
13 pin tow electrics
Trackstar Advance tracker

The cost for the above accessories was £1,387.

As I bought in the winter, I didn't want the car driven until the underbody had been treated by Chris (Zagato from this site). I therefore had the car collected directly from the dealers, before it had been driven, by a covered trailer and transported from Manchester to South London for Chris to weave his magic. he did an amazing and thorough job, and in addition to treating the underbody with Dinitrol carried out the following work as well:

"Seal/waterproof the roof, roof to frame, frame to bulkhead, rear tub to rear sides, etc as per the LR water ingress guide. Protect the rear lights etc from mud/corrosion, grill off and whole of rad and nearby brackets etc to stop it looking rusty in 3 years not just the frame, seal rivets from inside, take off rear door strip which corrodes underneath, treat door catches and fasteners, body to chassis bolts, underbody and engine electric contacts, the list goes on..."

Aside from the transport cost (c. £500), the above work by Chris cost £585.

Whilst with Chris, he also kindly fitted a new black powder coated Nakatanenga rear wheel carrier and a rear door gas strut for me. The cost of the carrier was £595 and the rear door strut was £75 from 4x4 Overlander of this parish.

Subsequently, in August 2015, Twisted undertook the following modifications:

SOUNDPROOFING TO FULL INTERIOR
ALPINE MEDIA INSTALLATION WITH 987 HEAD UNIT
ALPINE - 7" DISPLAY DOUBLE DIN DAB HEAD UNIT
KINETIC AERIAL SPLITTER - AM/FM & DAB
PARKING SENSOR KIT FRONT AND REAR
REVERSING CAMERA
TWISTED ZINC COATED, JAVA METALLIC LED FRONT BUMPER
TWISTED 6MM BLACK COATED STEERING GUARD
LED 95MM STOP & TAIL LIGHTS, REVERSE, FOG & INDICATORS
PAINT TO CROSS MEMBER
LED - INTERIOR DOWNLIGHTING
HERTZ 8 CHANNEL COMPONENT SYSTEM
RAISED ARM REST WITH LEATHER TO LR CUBBY BOX
LEATHER TO DASH TOPS AND GRAB HANDLE
HEADLIGHT - NOLDEN LED 7"
LED SIDE LIGHT BULB
CARPET - HEEL PANEL
TUBULAR REAR STEP & TOWING BRACKET
REAR LED WORK LIGHT
ROCKER SWITCH WITH RED LED FOR SWITCHABLE FRONT PARKING SENSORS
ECU REMAP DEFENDER 2.2 - LIMITER 160KMH

The above items and fitting by Twisted cost £16,152.

The car has had two main dealer services undertaken by Williams Landrover. The first service was in May 2015. This followed the annual service guide (including an early full oil change) and the second service followed a year later in May 2016.

The car would also come with the following:

Spare set of Boost alloys (4) fitted with Nokian winter tyres (covered less than 500 miles)
Steering wheel disk lock
Pedal lock
Extended tow ball fitting in order to fit a cycle carrier without fouling the spare wheel (it comes with the original tow ball too).

Adding up all costs (obviously excluding the services and transport cost to Chris) amounts to £54,569.

Mileage is just under 6,000. Condition really is perfect.

Given all of the above, hopefully others will agree that £40k is fair, but only time will tell. She really is a very well specified car, with lots of sensible 'real world' modifications, and has been very very well looked after.

As for why I'm selling? I also have a Range Rover. I bought the Defender in part because I've always wanted one, but also because I thought I'd use it for more day to day duties that I wouldn't use the RR for. With my OCD tendencies that just hasn't happened though (both cars are pampered), and now with 75,000 miles on my 4 year old RR I'm more than happy to use that for all chores. So there's now just too much overlap between the cars to warrant keeping both.

I've posted a few pictures below. But happy to take more if anyone wants a particular photograph taking.

Thanks for looking, happy to answer any questions.

This first picture was on delivery to the dealers ...

Stunning Defender at a fair price in the current market. Can't help think you ought to post more photos of inside and out to help with the sale?

Good advert, maybe needs more photo's?

Impressed with what you did regarding underseal and waterproofing right at the start. That's brave but sensible step.

Good luck with the sale Thumbs Up New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info

Mind changed. No longer for sale Whistle

Speaking with a pal at work, she said I'd regret it (she's on here too - you know who you are ! Very Happy ) and she's absolutely right.

My Defender might not be used v often, but when she is I do enjoy it. Time for the heart to rule the head.

Good move in my book. Similar situation with a high specification I was considering 'moving on.'

You can obviously relate to my thread about it below..... 'Defender Rediscovery?' Try not driving it for a few months then have a go. You'll realise how much it was a mistake trying to sell.

Laughing

We drove past the BOATs I was telling you about on our way back from Kettlewell yesterday and I was just thinking I'd have to get you up here to change your mind. If only my powers of persuasion worked that well on S!!

Just imagine how much fun you'd have doing this in your 110:
