2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Stornoway Grey

Door seals holding water

Has anyone noticed door seals on Puma holding water? Any time I open the front doors after rain there's a fair bit of water runs out of the seals themselves. Part of me says not to worry - it looks to be inside the rubber trim itself, but I can't help but think that holding water for days on end must is some way contribute to corrosion. Has anyone modified the seal to allow water to run out more freely?

You can see the water running out below - it's a couple of days since we had rain and you can see it's still wet in the area:

Hi. Yes my 90xs does this. I just drain them occasionally by opening the doors
I guess once the door seals wear out they won't hold water any more?

When the door is shut the hollow seals compress, the air is let out by little holes further up the seals. This is where water can enter. If it drains as per your pic it shouldn't,t be a problem.

They all do it and always will

Doesn't seem to have any ill effect though as it just fills up a rubber tube.

My 110 Puma was outside 24/7 all year round and in some very cold freezing weather, never had a problem with door seals

Nothing at all, it just expands the rubber a bit and doesn't drain out until it has frozen

Freezing water trapped inside the seals can expand to such a degree that it can split a Defender in two - seriously
