hand brake / brake fluid level warning light stays on.
Dear all,

2003 90 td5 Farmers runaround.

I have s atrange problem, normally when something breaks it doesn't work, but my warning light stays on while it should be off.
First off all I was amazed that I found elektronics behind the dash:

Looking at my Rave disc I have to admit it only goes including the 2002 modell But I thought that would be the same as the other one is the 1999 model. At the electric diagram it shows the instrument light getting the power from connector C0230 pin 1 and the sensors are connected to C0230 pin 14. Pin 13 and 9 are connected to each other and internally pin 13 and 14 are connected and there is a resistor between the power part pin 1 and pin 9.

So I start measuring 14 has 6 V when engine is running.

I think the switches on the Hand Brake and the fluidlevel are OK as the resistences will drop to 0 ohm when the hadbrake is pulled or the fluid level sensor is pulled above the container.
When everything is connected the voltage also drops to 0V when the hand brake lever is pulled etc.

Is the electronics part broken?

Another thing what confuses me is that when I pull the C0230 plug off completely the handbrake and fluid level light is on and also the ABS light is on, while these should only be powered by C0230 pin.

I'd recommend you stop messing about, put it back together and then get it plugged in and scanned. Sounds like a bad ABS sensor or ABS pump fault. Read the codes first then it might help you determine what's up and where to look.

I don't think I am messing about.
I used my Nanocom and there are No faults recorded. Shocked

The ABS has it's own light anyway and a small point I don't have ABS anyway.

I found the problem anyway and solved it, but reading your reaction you probably won't like my solution either. Mr. Green

Looking at the wiringdiagram The + is connected along a resistor to pin 9. After a lot off measuring I noticed that the power did not get to pin 9. So with a test wire I solved the problem and the picture shows my permanent fix.

RF4 RDS you would peobably go to the stealers and pay €300 or more. Whistle Roel

Hey what ever works, man. Glad you got it sorted. Thumbs Up Your solution is workable and fixed it, that's all that matters. I never take anything to the stealers. They just are so crappy. I do all my own servicing and repairs. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

There's a few odd transistor based drive circuits that board as well. I need to whip the soldering iron over mine when I do an RS order...
