V8 sump leak
I have just removed the sump on my 3.9 14cux( 16 bolt hole) being that it was leaking Big Cry However I have found with it cleaned and inverted on a sheet of glass I have areas that are 0.25mm between bolt holes out of flat. Please advise best way too proceed for a lasting leak free seal regarding gasket and sealers etc thanks! Thumbs Up Very Happy

Clean both matting surfaces with benzene, it must be free from any oiliness.
Apply a good quality rtv sealant, I prefer loctite, on both surfaces.
Use studs to guide the sump, to prevent smudging.

Tighten progressively , but don't over tighten.

Maybe I am a bit old school, I was in two minds either use hylomar blue and cork gasket or Permatex ultra black or order up a rubber TVR rubber gasket. I realise there's no actual pressure involved however I have ordered the SD1 rear oil pan brace too bridge the wide rear oil pan holes where leaks seem too originate Thumbs Up Very Happy

When I think about it the original sealant used by land rover was present on removal! It had lasted over twenty years....hydrosil!!!
