Can't believe the difference
Disconected the maf yesterday and what a difference. I thought my 90 was a tad sluggish so took the maf plug out and now it is so much more responsive. Looks like a new one is needed. Very Happy

Forgive ignorance, but does the maf do?

It'll be even better with a new one, as without the MAF unit connected it runs in default settings.

I did exactly the same thing after reading the other thread (Lund's thread I think) and I found exactly the same thing, I was driving along and my 90 started doing it's usual sluggish cycle (Varies from day to day) I pulled into the next layby and unplugged the MAF and WOW!! Shocked I remember what it used to drive like when I bought it, amazing transformation, so like yourself, I will be shopping for a new one Thumbs Up
I also done the de-cat mod and I don't know how much of a difference that made but the turbo appears to kick in sooner and I can hear the whistle very nicely now, I might remove the center box as well, anyone done this? noisey, mot fail? Optimists say the glass is half full..
Pessimists say the glass is half empty..
Engineers say the glass is twice the size it needs to be!

Mine was a bit quicker to respond with the CAT removed, but there was a drone between 65-70mph.
With the centre box removed it was indeed pretty loud (110 TD5 CSW) and l ended up putting it back to standard.

However some like the sound, best bet is to try it and see what you think. It's the only way you'll really know.

Mine is early enough to have no cats, and I recently removed the centre box. Really happy with the difference! Not too loud from inside. It does get a little drony under load at speed, but that's really only when going up long hills on the motorway. I like the noise regardless!

Apparently really quite loud from the outside, and plenty of turbo whistle!

I think it spools up more quickly, and drives more nicely because of it. That centre silencer is also damn heavy, so it's obviously made it faster!

Be warned that the centre box flange to the rear section may be very rusty. Took me a lot of careful grinding work to remove the studs without damaging what was left of the flange on the rear section. Also, the original centre had studs, the new one I bought only had a flange with holes, so I had to dig around the drawers for some bolts of the correct size!

My local land rover bunch, dingocroft. I believe it is a Bosal part in stainless. Cost around £60+ vat?

Just an update on the MAF sensor. I bought a genuine one from my land rover dealer at the princely sum of £ 125 and when connected it goes back to being sluggish? ???? Any ideas why chaps?

Not sure how to explain that to land rover? They will probably want my landy in to see why and change a fortune?

You could do with getting a diagnostic before doing any more.
Can you take it to an lndy who won't charge you so much?
