Cruise control closest to OE
Which cc stalk looks most like an OE fitting in a Puma? Some look pretty out of place and would spoil the aesthetics... I like the look of the one Terrafirma sell but can't get a crisp image of it.

I have a Nakatenanga one - looks and works great

The Mobilecentre one is incredibly similar but cheaper...

Do the pictures on this link help?

Have to say I'm currently going away and its one of the only things I might miss on my other car for the long journey Smile

How much would fitting one of these cost?

Finding a cc that looks OE in a Defender is pretty difficult, as some look way too modern and refined for it, in my view.
I rather like the clutter of stalks created when adding one to the left hand side of the column. It works perfectly, is easy to fit and doesnīt cost much. A cc really is one of the most useful mods you can do to a TD4, unless it spend all its time on a farm or rescueing people off mountains, and it is as close to autonomous motoring as I want my Defender to achieve Thumbs Up Very Happy .

Mine is the Terrafirma /Nakatanenga one (without memory) and cost about GBP 350.00. 1998 Tdi 90 SW,
2008 Td4 90 SW,
2012 2.2 90 SW,
2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma
Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs,
Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons

Nice Smile I wonder if an indicator stalk could be reworked to perform the same function and then have appropriate graphics added. I'm trying to recall the cc on my old P38, I think it had an on off switch on the dash. Could do something similar.

Here is a link to a half decent image of the Terrafirma product. The stalk and font look quite OE to my eye. http://www.frogsisland4x4.com/cruise_controlTD4?search=Cruise

Here's mine, it's not a Puma but is technically OE (from a Disco) and to be honest you don't even notice its there. Whichever you choose, it's one of the best mods you can make especially if you spend a lot of time cruising.

I fitted the Mobile Centre one over the weekend and I have to say I think it looks good and performs well.
At low RPM in high gears (where you shouldn't really be anyway) it can sometimes hunt a little but that's the only flaw I've found so far.
It needs to be fitted on the left of the dash so that the light faces towards you and so that flicking it up increases the speed, and I've got it just above the headlight switch.

It's really easy to use, you turn it on when you want to start using it by pushing it away from you. Then if you want to activate it you flick it up, change speed by flicking up or down, pause by pulling it towards you, resume by flicking down or set a new cruise speed with up (those last two might be backwards, I forget). I haven't used the speed limiter or either of the pre-set speeds yet.

This thread was helpful with the fitting but it's possible to do with just the instructions:
