TD5 Diagnostics

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend somebody or a company who can correctly check the timing, injectors and map on the ecu on a td5?

I have tried to make contact with IRB who seem to be the top bananas for all things TD5 but can't seem to get a response.

So is there anyone else who provide a competent and reliable service? The Green Lane Association.

If it's any help, timing is mechanical, there's no electronic adjustment to it as such. Injectors you can only check the trim codes are correct for the injectors and look at cylinder balancing which unless you are looking for a pretty much dead miss are a pretty useless set of figures.

Thanks Slim, I think I've reached the limit of my ability with this engine so I'm looking to get the injector rail set correctly (the adjustments on the cam rail)
The timing checked in case i have missed a tooth or something like that and check the correct map on the ECU. The Green Lane Association.

It's just running a bit lumpy and is prone to puffs of smoke.

So far I have replaced:

5 injectors
The injector harness
The cylinder head
Turbo

There was oil in the loom but that has now displaced. I just think it needs a proper check on a diagnostic tool and somebody who understands td5 engines to check the injector settings, cam lash, timing. The Green Lane Association.

Injector seals are cheap to replace and if the old ones are shot it can make a big difference to running. Ray

Any particular driving conditions that make it run lumpy?

It's lumpy on tick over.

Driving is ok but does kick out a fair amount of black smoke The Green Lane Association.
