No, K&N's would behave like regular filters if they are replacements in the original housing.

When did you first become aware of the misfire? Was anything changed or repaired beforehand? Darren

Scenes as I sorted out the misfire once and for all (yes it's still gone Cool ) I decided to get myself a raised air intake two weeks ago. Completely forgot to update my build thread so here it is! I did want a wing top one but finding one was proving too much of a challenge. Scenes as I haven't got the original air filter fitted I've yet to bodge a connection between the intake and airbox.

As for the misfires for anyone who isn't following my thread dedicated to the issue.. The cold running misfire was caused by some worn parts in the carburettors, presumably the fuel lift pins as they are the only things I replaced in the fuel bowls. I rebuilt the pair and didn't have a problem in the cold again. The high speed misfire was caused by the fuel restrictor which as it turns out wasn't supposed to be there. Actually, technically I think it's supposed to go on the return but I couldn't connect it with the pipes available and half my petrol ended up on the floor. Will sort it out in the future and see how it runs. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

That's great news. I know how frustrating those sorts of faults can be, so well done! Darren

So today is a sad day. Today my Land Rover goes to her new home. She will be missed dearly but I'm happy that she has gone to a good home. Her new owners are a very nice couple and I hope they have as much fun as I've had over the past two years. I've invited them to the forum so hopefully we can all read of the new adventures she'll be having!

Hopefully will be back to Land Rover ownership soon. Until then, I hope you have all enjoyed reading about my past two years of Land Rover ownership.
