Connecting an Engel Fridge to a Blue Sea Dual Battery System
Hello

I am in the process of fitting an Engel Fridge to a Blue Sea Dual Battery System. The Blue Sea Fuse box has small space for the connectors and the ones on the end of the fridge are way too big. I have tried to make the end ring fit by bending it about and putting a stainless steel washer on top but it is all a bit messy. I have a load of smaller connectors left over from the Blue Sea install and wondering if I can use these. There are numbers on the connector (5-48 and 12-10) but not sure what they mean. i will be operating a 12V system. there is a 10A fuse in the wiring for the battery lead and the manual states to us a 15A fuse at the battery. The cable is 1.3mm2

Can I use these smaller connectors as it would make life so much easier.

Cheers
Kenny

Assuming you've got a fuse box with screw terminals, you just need a ring or fork terminal on the end of the fridge lead.
Have you got the tools to crimp them? If not you need something like this, other suppliers are available. https://www.beal.org.uk/heavy-duty-heavy-d...mpers.html

Generally they're colour coded, red up to about 1.5mm2, blue up to about 2.5mm2, yellow up to about 6mm2. For this job, either a red or a blue would be suitable. Then you just need to find one of the correct size to fit in to your fuse box.

Thanks Cupboard

I was not sure if the colour coding on the wee connectors indicated a load or cable size. I found a crimping tool in the depths of the workshop so all sorted now with fridge hooked up in advance of trip up the Pyrenees. Need a cold beer up the top.

Thumbs Up

The colours indicate a size which then dictates the load, so it's all related.
