Britain is built, is proud of, and relies upon it's democracy. Interesting perhaps but should we not now leave what does that say about our so called 'democracy?' We would be no better than any other country governed by a regime. Common sense must prevail, irrespective of conscience, feelings and of course the outcome our democratic process has spoken. We can do nothing much more than wait and see. Speculation is not a positive trait in uncertain times. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

The thing is though if you put someone in a position they essentially can't win or rather stand to loose whatever they do then there is no mechanism for you to gain control over what they might do. So at that point if all the options are bad you stick with your original plan after all its better to do something than nothing. If Cameron was as clever as the linked commentator believed then he would have engineered a situation where his successors only had one option the one he wanted not no options at all. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Just over half of the voting public has put the whole of the UK into an unknown and very uncertain position.
The unelected celebrities who persuaded the general public this was a good idea now do not seem very keen to take the project forward. To expect just under half of the voting public to be happy about the situation, be British, put on stiff upper lips and ride into the guns to death or victory is a little presumptuous, especially when the majority of us had a good handle on things and were happy in our tepees sticking flowers on our bay window campers. Is there a problem? Or more to the point what is the problem with these remain people? It seems to me that if you wish to live in a democracy, you have to be aware that it is the majority that hold the sway. If a person does not like such decisions then perhaps they would be happier in a dictatorial country where no one has a say in the countries issues.
For Years it has always been this way as this country does not have proportional representation, so in every general election millions of people vote for the losing side and are represented by a government they did not vote for. However those people usually just get on with it and before anyone starts moaning at that I am aware that a referendum is slightly different but still follows the same rules of our democracy. I have never in my lifetime come across so many voters who are moaning at a decision that the majority gave; I find such people self-interested and sore losers. I voted out, however, should the result have been to remain then I would have accepted it. We will not, but should we have a second referendum and the result is the same, would these people who are demanding one then go on to demand a third a fourth etc. or until they get the result they wish for. Unless you wish to let the decision eat at you my suggestion is except it, and get on with making this country better than it has been in a generation. Steve, my problem is that apart from being able to ignore EU laws, no one knows what lies in store for us!

The House of Commons petitions committee is investigating allegations of fraud in connection with a petition calling for a second EU referendum. Its inquiry is focused on the possibility that some names could be fraudulent - 77,000 signatures have already been removed. More than 3.2 million signatures are on the petition, but PM David Cameron has said there will be no second vote. A number of people on Twitter have pointed out that some people appear to have signed the petition from outside the UK. Only British citizens or UK residents are permitted to sign the petition, including Britons based abroad. The House of Commons petitions committee said it will continue to monitor the petition for "suspicious activity". The stupid thing about that e-petition is that its not legally binding. To be honest the BBC shouldnt even consider it important enough to report on.
The reason? Well there are several actually. But 2 that come right off the top are 1: As mentioned today, the "signatures" could come from anywhere on the globe. 2: How do you know that millions of kids that are too young to vote at the ballot box aren't trying to affect the outcome in another way? It just proves that too many people take what they read on social media to be gospel.. |

The other stupid thing is the referendum isn't legally binding on the government as noted in the report above - may be too frightening for all in power yet!!!
