My td5 has no remap, and does exactly the same.
I've had it over 4 years and it's always done it. I'd just assumed they all did it! 😕 2002 td5 90 county hardtop |

Mine always runs a bit lumpy first thing. More so in the cold. I always thought it was something to do with 5 cylinders but only 4 glow plugs.

Mine does the same again with alive stage1 but did it before that
Done so far Replaced injector loom Maf unplugged No oil in ecu Had replacement turbo Next steps are change accelerator pedal Injector seals Replace loom again 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid) 2002 90 TD5 Hardtop (Sully) Sold 1998 300TDi D1 (Billy) Sold |

Unplugging the airflow meter will give exactly that fault.

If the airflow meter is dead it will do it. If you unplug it it will do it. Get it plugged into some diagnostics I'll bet it's sat there dead reading 4.40

The only issue is that it had a full service and the alive tune at the same time
The diagnostics came back with faults and they were all cleared So the MAF and injectors were all checked and sorted at the time I'm just wondering if they all do that Sir |

Mine sometimes runs like that for a short while.
If I stop & turn off the engine then restart it, it seems to run better. Why ? I have asolutley no idea. I also have an Alive remap, but been back & had it checked out & all showed well. Beats me.  |

Ours does the same, reverse it off the drive, drive to the end of the road, very flat, feels like its almost in a limited performance mode- get another 150m down the road and all is fine- usually on a cold damp day.
Its had all the of the suggested things replaced in the last couple of years, is no different. Of the three I used to use for work 2 of them did it- the other (newest one on a 56 plate) didnt?! Both of the the TD5 discos that another firm I used to work for did it too. I have always thought its just a td5 quirk?! Chris |

My 110 TD5 did this and it was hooked up to diagnostics which showed nothing.
I fitted a new MAF unit and the fault disappeared. The missus's 90 TD5 also had a similar fault when we bought it last year. I called in to the Indy who sold it us, but l was in the 110.....the guy disappeared into the back and returned with a new MAF unit in a box and put it into my hand. I fitted it into the 90 later that day. It cured the fault. I think it's because when you start the engine, the ECU tries to take an input from the unit, and after a short time if the data is bad, defaults to preset settings. Apparantly some cheap MAF units can be faulty from new! I fitted an OE to the 110, the one given to me by the lndy was a £30 one but it's been fine. My advice is just change the MAF, if it doesn't cure the fault at least you'll know what it isn't. |
