The only two variables to value for choosing insurance cover is cost of premiums ..any easy one to discover! but the second is how well they deal with claims.......that is harder to evaluate unless you have made a claim yourself.....in the case of A plan i personally am unsure to their worth when it comes to claims!..perhaps folk on here may comment on how good they are!..Cheap premiums , and friendly staff when they want your business and oh yes sir we will cover your bren gun attachment for the landy at no extra cost are all well and good but if they shaft you on your claim they are as redundant as Nigel Farage if the country votes brexit!

Yes I changed to A Plan at the end of last year and experienced the same high level of service as mentioned above. Like Nitram17, I would like to hear about members experiences of making a claim. I've had experience in the past of NFU Mutual insurance, both for vehicles and for horses and have been excellent when dealing with the few claims I have had but their premiums were double what I am paying now, both for vehicles and horses.
Since moving my horse insurance from NFU to another company for half the premium I have made a couple of claims and these were dealt with in the same manner and on the same time scale as NFU, so hopefully my experience with A Plan (if I have to claim) will be equally as good. I've also switched to A-Plan as offered full cover at a great rate, however it is still all down to how claims are handled. Despite asking several times, I guess luckily, I've never read of anyone claim experience on Def2. I'd like to think being an def2 sponsor holds them in good stead, but maybe wishful thinking!

Mrs Greeni was quoted over £1000 for her 90! We quoted the forum link but they couldn't help.
She only paid £525 for the RS4! Mrs Greeni (as she never has a bad word about anybody) says they were very very friendly and very helpful. Shame as we do have 3 Defenders and a runaround in the drive. |

I don't know why but you must speak to the Thatcham office of APlan, as others don't offer the same premiums. That premium sounds very high for APlan. Mine was £300 for 2012 110 XS SW with tune, spacers, security, underbody protection and green laning cover, just as a guide. James

I am a stuck record on this but it's the Thatcham office you need to speak to. They are the specialist cars office who have access to a wider range of insurers and policies than the other offices.
Thatcham office are the site sponsor and will understand what you mean if you mention DEFENDER2  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

No problem
It isn't the car division but I have claimed on my A Plan buildings insurance policy and it was painless. Was sent a cheque for the required repair without fuss. A Plan were picked as a site sponsor because you don't deal with a huge call centre, they are a relatively small team so more of the personal approach. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Good rates and helpful staff when I called too. 110 td5 CSW, tune, roll cage, snorkel etc came in around the £300 mark for me and the other half to be on it. A lot less than Adrian Flux and the likes.
Can't comment on any claims for the Defender but I also insure the work vans through them and had a claim a couple of months ago that was sorted easily with no dramas. 2002 Defender 110 CSW TD5 |
