[For Sale] 110 Brakes, Disks and Calipers - Front and Rear
As per title, take off 110 brake system.

Brakes have done 15k miles and were in perfect condition prior to removal. Changed them for Tarox 6 pot brakes.

Pads have about 2/3 wear left, disks hardly have any lip, its really not noticeable and the callipers and working well.

Would be good change for anyone with high milage Puma or older Defender that needs to renew brake system.

Looking fro £150 for the entire set to include front and rear callipers, disks and pads.

Front and rear guards also available at £40 for the four of them.

Collection only please as heavy!!!

Thanks
James

What axle were the rears off of (Salisbury or later Rover type axle?)

Would you split the set?

Hi Jim,

They're off a standard 2014 110 XS. Would, rather sell them as set to get rid and would chuck in the guards for the price if you want them.

Hi,

It's only the rears I'm interested in, but no worries, unless someone wants just the fronts.

I've got the guards sorted now though, thanks again.

Hi Jim,

Thinking about I would have thought most people would want the fronts anyway so happy to split. How about £70 collected?

Hello,

I am interested in the full set of brakes but may not be able to get over to you until a weekend at the very earliest unless you would consider packing for a courier to collect?

Are they vented disks or solid on the front?

I assume (here we go Rolling Eyes) the mountings for TDCI are no different from 200Tdi?

I know the rears are different but they may be subject to change soon anyway. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

@shaggydog - Thanks for message would rather get rid of them as set, so would prefer them to go that way. In terms of timing I'm not in a rush so happy to keep them for you for a few weekends? It would be a pain to send them out as they are heavy!!

Fronts are vented in that they have a gap between both faces of the disks if thats the question?

They are the standard 110 XS brakes from an MY 14 car.

Can take some pictures if needed.

Hi James,

If you could take some pics would be gratefully appreciated Thumbs Up

Jim, if the parts for the rear do not fit my Salisbury axle for the conversion I'm happy to split them once I have collected?

Seems silly for me to keep a load of bits I cant use so if it suits you I can collect the lot, take home and then if they don't work and you still want them can courier them up to you for £70 as previously agreed?

Helpful or chaos? Confused Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Nah that sounds do-able. Its only just to save me having to take the calipers off of my Salisbury axle and fit them to my new Rover type axle really, so if you do end up having all 4 it's no real issue to me. Thumbs Up

Sounds like a plan. Thumbs Up

Out of interest, what is up with your Salisbury axle?

James, if you could post up some pictures so I can see how they look before I commit to the trip I would be grateful Very Happy Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Sorry to the OP for going off topic....

It's got an ARB air locker in it. When I had it fitted it was a bit "slack", as in, the person who fitted it said "no need for the axle clamp", all well and good, but it leaves the diff not quite set up right.

Move on 20k miles or so, and now I have a whine. I pulled the rear cover off and can move the whole diff sideways about 2-3mm

So I bought new Timken bearings (the RH one for the ARB has to be a special order as it's 5mm thinner than the normal Salisbury main bearings) and a shim pack. Was about to pull the axle off to try and fix it, and thought "why not upgrade to the later axle". any diff problems I might get in the future would be easy to sort just by pulling the diff unit out.

so that's what I did. The new axle is nearly ready to fit (well, will be when I stick in the new bearings and discs), although I may well just take the calipers and discs off of my Salisbury, as they're in good condition.

The Salisbury with ARB will be for sale in the near future.

Fascinating stuff!

Are you going to take some pics?

There is so little information about Salisbury axles around would be good to start building up knowledge base on them Smile Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Just wandering if you have had a chance to take a photo of the brakes yet? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

As its been nearly 3 weeks since asking for photos for the brakes and none coming forward I'm going to pull out on this.

I need to get my brakes sorted soon and I cant afford a 400 mile round trip for something I haven't seen. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197
