Rear heated screen. Rubber or no rubber TD5 2001
I have another glass related question. In my TD5 90 I have a heated rear screen and wiper. It looks as if the screen has been badly fitted with just sealant. Should it not have a rubber seal like the front? I've also read the rear screen could be 4mm or 5mm thick. How do I know without removing it?

I am pretty sure that for your year the rear door pre-dates the move to a rubber seal (unless of course its not an original door). Your door should have the glass held in place by sealant and aluminium angles.

I am not sure about the difference in thickness but I would have thought with the above mentioned fitting method there is enough tolerance to handle either thickness.

Early TD5 had the 'old' style two piece door bonded together with a bonded glass.
The 'new' style one piece steel door with a proper rubber seal mounted glass was fitted from late 2002 onwards.
Later one [with a seal] has the 5mm glass

HTH Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Also the older style rear door window has squared lower corners, the later (rubber set) ones have a rounded profile.

I'll take a proper look at what I've got. Thanks for the input,

Mike
