2014 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 SW Corris Grey
The week has arrived
When I finally get to go pick up my Defender 90. I've wanted one for so many years and now thanks to my dear departed aunt, I am in a position to have one Smile She's a mint September 2014 Puma, Corris grey with Santorini black roof with only 5215 Kilometres on the clock. She is an ex Land Rover Dealer demonstrator. I live in the south of France so it's LHD, but I'm English not French. I got a pretty good deal from the garage, a few freebies thrown in such as adjustable towbar, full Land Rover Rubber mats etc and a good discount on other modifications such as full LED lights, and having the front grill, around the headlights and the wheel arches sprayed gloss black to match the roof and black chequer plate kit. She should look a lot nicer when I see her this week.

At the end of June I'm taking her up to the UK for some major upgrades. Masai panoramic Windows, double din facia with a Pioneer CarPlay unit. Full insulation, front and rear parking sensors, twin reversing cameras, Lazer grill with inbuilt LEDs, new bumper with inset LEDs, new 18" black wheels with BFG tyres, new sound system, leather front seats and full Dinitrol treatment. maybe a few more things, not decided yet. It's so much cheaper to take her to the UK to do all of this. In France it would cost twice as much and that's if I could find anyone to do it. It's a good excuse for a road trip anyway Smile

Nice vehicle. I'm surprised at the bonnet badging though, wouldn't a 2014 vehicle say DEFENDER rather than LAND ROVER? 2011 110 USW

Would it? I did wonder why some said Defender and others said Land Rover. It definitely is 2014 though. Well all the paperwork, Carte Grise etc say so. Is there a way of checking the manufacture date?

Date of 1st registration is 30/09/2014. Just did a VIN check online and it comes up with 2013 as manufacture year. Maybe non UK models had Land Rover rather than Defender? Anyone know more about this?

Ah, 2013 model I think was still LAND ROVER. We have a 13 reg 110 at work like that. The 14 plate we got is DEFENDER. 2011 110 USW

Quick question maybe someone can advise on. I want to change the wheels and tyres whilst in the uk, and of course want to keep the originals and bring them back home to France. Will I get all five of them in the back? I guess weight wise it's fine but physical size I'm not sure if I can get them in? As you can see by the photo above, it has the rear forward facing folding seats fitted which reduces space somewhat.

Thanks guys

Maybe.
This is 5 255/85R16 and one 265/75R16 tyre in the back of a 90 with some tool boxes.

Those tyres both being bigger than stock. I think the greatest issue you will have is fitting them through the door and then not damaging your interior trim.

Unusual to see a steering wheel with a knob on it, I've been thinking of fitting one to mine so I'd be interested to hear your opinions of it.

Blimey looking at that I can't see how I'd get them inside. Not even sure I'd get them on a roof rack?

The knob will come off. I think it'll just be annoying. I assume it's for off road use?

Speaking from experience, no all 5 will not fit inside!

And they are bloody heavy to go on a roof rack!!

Time for a mates trailer perhaps! YOLO... You Only Live Once...

I think I'll have to forget about changing the wheels in the UK and have it done here in France. The wheels and tyres will cost more here but at least I can keep my old set to sell and get money back. Not sure what I'd get for them but second hand stuff often sells for good prices here.

I think you should buy a nice roof rack instead of masai windows. Not a big fan of those. Then you can change tyres and take The old ones back to france. 😊👍what wheels are you thinking of? I know there is a new 18 inch coming.

I really like the panoramic windows Smile I think they look great on dark grey or black Defenders, perhaps not so nice on light colour cars. I want a roof rack as well, not decided which yet but perhaps the Front Runner Slimline 2 in black. I do want aluminum because it's lighter and doesn't rust like steel. I think I prefer the look of the Land Rover Expedition rack, but it's steel Sad

As for the wheels, I liked the Sawtooths but then preferred the black boosts. Not decided that yet but I want BFG All Terrain tyres.

The more I add to my list of wants, the more confused I become LOL

I'm still waiting for the garage to phone to tell me the cars ready to collect. So frustrating all this waiting lol.

And now the bloody French are blockading the refineries and there's no diesel to be found anywhere Evil or Very Mad I hope the garage has filled my Defender up already.

You think they would fit without the seats? Are they fairly easy to remove?
