REPLACE TD5 FRONT DISCS
Hi, new to site. I have a 2005 110 TD5 and need to change the front discs. Done this several times on older Defenders and classic Range Rovers with no problems. However I didn't have to deal with ABS etc and the hub/wheel bearings had a nut and locknut, not shims. Any advice or encouragement.

In theory, if there is no play in the bearings before removal, there will be no play when refitting Thumbs Up

The ABS ring is held on with 5x 10mm nuts accessed between the hub and disc. With this removed, it allows access to the disc retaining bolts, as per normal Thumbs Up

Thanks for that, hope it's as simple as it sounds. will the ABS ring only go back in the correct position or does it need marking before removing ?

Forgive me if I am wrong as it's a couple of years ago since I changed my front discs but the Defender abs is read from the hub under the swivel pin therefore no ring on the back of the disc whereas a Disco II has the ring on the back of the disc.

Indeed. Rear discs have the ring behind the discs, front discs are read off the CV joint Embarassed
Teach me not to read the post properly Laughing

Disco 2 is read from inside the hub assy Thumbs Up

Thanks for that I will investigate. I did realise that the Disco hub is non-serviceable and the 110 is serviceable. My old press-release 1983 110 didn't have things like ABS, so all a bit new to me, never had a problem with any of these bits even though I've had this TD5 110 for 11yrs

You'll be fine. You don't need to touch any ABS components on a disc change. Thumbs Up

Front ABS is read off the shaft not the hub, as is the rear. However removing the drive member can be a REAL pita!! Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.
