Dear travelers,
On our wish list of travelling was winter camping for several years at the top, and now it was so far. After what information to have different people and companies gathered, we have taken the following preparation: 2 pairs of snow chains bought. New filters and oil in the car Our interior heater made an extension, which goes through the window to the roof tent. After many deliberations, yet bought any other ties, and our BF AT tires are on leave. We took the track for the route we've driven in the summer of 2012, and for a week we rented a lovely apartment at camping Knuts in Vitsand Sweden, from were we planed excursions like, a dog sled ride, make snowscooter tour and snowshoe hikes. The journey. Wildlife camp went well till -18 to -15 degrees Celsius, we could keep it in the car above freezing, and in the roof tent it was sleeping well. From - 22 it was not very nice, inside the car it was all frozen, and on the roof tent was so much ice that it was a challenge to pack him again ... and here were the valves of mats frozen etc etc At minus 25 degrees the car only start after the cooker to leave a half hour burn below the engine (you really need a heater) Door seals were sometimes frozen ( were already thick coated with silicone spray). It is amazing and fairylike in Sweden and Norway, a mecca for off-roading, to go snowshoeing and tranquility. On trails riding / hiking where 60 cm of snow for weeks but no one has been located. The dog sled tour and snowmobile trip was a beautiful and very nice experience. And as a little bit of luck, there was the car rally through the forest where people light a fire for grilling sausages, and watch the rally. We can the pretty area around Vitsand (half an hour from Torsby) really recommend, it was already familiar to use because we have been there in the summer, beautiful scenery and great 4wd ride and walk, but now we also have experienced it in the winter is great !! For lovers, there is in a 10 minute drive also a ski and cross-country track at Hovfjället. Here are a few photos. Thanks for showing the pictures. Looks great! And good to read about your preparations for the car.
Did you use a built-in Diesel heater? |

We have a Webasto heater, only for the inside of the car. It is beter to have one for the inside and motor in one, in cold places. Met vriendelijke groet /Best regards
