I really wouldn't bother with additives. Just drive them as they're meant to be driven and don't pussyfoot around with them. And for gods sake whatever you do don't put two stroke oil in the fuel !

Yep I know. And I keep saying it until I'm blue in the face. Do not, under any circumstances, put two stroke in a vehicle fitted with a DPF. Ever.

The reason that the engine oil is low ash, is that just the tiny amount of oil that passes the rings being burnt will shorten the life of a DPF........

Not really helpful if the conditions or type of roads being driven does not allow this.

Wife's last company car used to light up the 'must keep driving' warning nearly every time I used it. I'm sure it detected the difference in driving style and knew that when I got in 'here's someone that isn't going to pussyfoot around' so requested that I gave it a damn good thrashing. She would potter about in it for a few weeks then I would borrow it to do the work run and bingo, on came the DPF warning.... So I would give it the old 'Italian tune-up' Laughing

We are planning on going over the Pyrenees in a couple of months. I was worried I would get stuck up on some mountain in my 2.2. This might be the product to use for that trip. Would love to hear some real-world usage feedback where this has been used laning for a while (days).

I'd be interested too in the product above and also the cleaner they sell:

The first product is designed to be a preventative measure against DPF clogging and is ideal for use if your car is only driven on short journeys or around town; and the latter after the warning light has come on.

I find it a little strange that the powers that be reasoned that a DPF was necessary for the diesel engine to meet emission standards to help us all go green. But if your regenerating light comes on you've to make an unnecessary journey in lower gears than usual to get the revs up to clear the DPF. This means that you are using fuel unnecessarily, in fact even more fuel than usual as you are using a lower gear to get the revs up. I don't see much "green" about that. There must be a better way than this. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
