United Kingdom 1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue
TD5 Build spec
Got the build spec for my 1999 110 TD5 which is as follows

3.54 FINAL DRIVE RATIO
110 INCH/2794MM WHEELBASE
2650 LB. FRONT AXLE
3850 LB(1750 KG) REAR AXLE ASY
6720 LB. GVW
DIESEL FUEL CAPABILITY
LOCKING REAR AXLE - E DIFF
POWER 4-WHEEL DISC
SOLIHULL ASSEMBLY (UK)

The interesting point is LOCKING REAR AXLE - E DIFF
No ABS or TC on my 110.

Looking at the axle there are no wires for an E Diff and pretty sure its not a locking diff.
Any ideas? (Possible it might have been swapped out before I purchased the 110) 1999 Defender TD5 110

Doubtful, when I looked mine up it said that there was no tc and abs. Well it has and I don't think that anyone would go to the effort of fitting that lot on after it came out of the factory.

I don't think land rover has ever offered locking axle diffs electronically or otherwise from the factory on defenders.

Special vehicles - yes quite possibly but not on standard ones.

Would love to be wrong though Thumbs Up Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I got a similar spec list for my 2004 90, including the "LOCKING REAR AXLE - E DIFF", just before I collected it.

I got all excited thinking it had some extra goodies over and above the Overdrive and stage 2 remap that I already knew about - all in vain Rolling Eyes

But it also shows, amongst other things -
"LESS ANTI-LOCK BRAKES"
which it does have Confused all to be taken with a pinch of salt I think Evil or Very Mad

What's that diff manufacturer called who recently were bought out by Allmakes ? Don't they make an e locking diff that may have been used by Special Vehicles.

Sorry for jumping onto a TD5 thread with TDi question.

I got similar information back from Solihull

3.54 FINAL DRIVE RATIO
110 INCH/2794MM WHEELBASE
2650 LB. FRONT AXLE
3850 LB(1750 KG) REAR AXLE ASY
6720 LB. GVW
DIESEL FUEL CAPABILITY
LOCKING REAR AXLE - E DIFF
POWER 4-WHEEL DISC
SOLIHULL ASSEMBLY (UK)
LESS ANTI-LOCK BRAKES

I can confirm that Lamp Guards were also fitted through our Special Vehicle Operations Facility.

Are we convinced that the E DIFF bit s a corruption on their system. Possibly for Salisbury axle? Did the other details check out as correct for you? Mine does have discs but not ABS. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

Most likely a build code that is shared with the "E DIFF" on another vehicle (e.g. Disco 3) and there is no Defender translation for it.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
