Buy one of these or similar from eBay £7.49 with free p&p. just search DRL controller then it will becomes plug and play the only joining you will have to do is a feed from one of the sidelights so that at night the DRL’s will dim as per law.

Am not sure that unit on ebay is legal to use in the UK

In the UK I think all indicators have to be amber in colour.

DRL when fitted close to an indicator can 'outshine' the indicator. Many DRL dim when indicators are used.

Flashing white lights on a car is illegal except for emergency vehicles.

So I would be rather dubious to fit that ebay controller

I think if you do not connect the yellow wires, there won't be any flashing and you're legal again... Cheers, Vincent

Description on Ebay says it all:

Quote:

Wire Connection:
- Red and black wires connect to the positive and negative terminals of car battery
- Blue wire connects to ACC, with time delay function (when car starts, DRL light turns on; when car stops, the light will delay 28 seconds to turn off.)
- White wire connects to headlight (when headlight turns on at nights, the brightness of DRL light will decrease by half. )
- Green wire connects strobe light (connects with loudspeaker) (when driver press the loudspeaker button, DRL light will be in strobe mode)
- The two yellow wires connect to the left and right turn signals (flash simultaneously with the original turn signals)

so... It's not that difficult, isn't it?. Shocked
It would not connect the green and yellow wires though, for legallity. Cheers, Vincent

I never really see why people faff about with these DRL controllers. All you need is a relay or two.

Now, I realise there are more durable methods (i.e. transistors) but switching is not hugely frequent, so relay life shouldn't be an issue, and the cheap chinese controllers are not exactly "high quality", and if you use a standard relay, you can at least pop down to Halfords etc. should it need replacing and stick a new one straight in.

Hi, it turns out i need to find a ignition live, they would normally take it from the front horn but i don't have the battery backup alarm system so i need to find an alternative one... (dont worry about the alarm I've got a full aftermarket system with a few little tricks)

would prefer not to tear the dash apart and run a wire from the ignition barrel...

How about taking the 12v from the radio which is painless.

my dash is pretty full of all sorts of different things,

my understanding of vehicle electrics is very basic, would this be the same thing that turns my sub on / off?
think its called the 'remote' ?

This is exactly how I have done it, also I took my switched positive from the fuel pump, fused with a 3 amp fuse.
