Dont have one myself Mark, however Howling moon would get my vote if i were in the market.
Sonic3d looked at them all before chosing the howling moon, and seeing the tent in action, it certainly is well made...downside..its the best = big ££££ Thumbs Up

The howling moon does look good we liked the tourer with the extra room, did read one report about water getting into the annex room but other than that they seem to get good reports.

I looked at all the other makes of roof tent at Eastnor before buying a 1.4 tourer with extension. I cannot comment on the extension yet as i have not used it but the main tent is fantastic and does not leak.
Used it in Tunisia and due to being up in the air away from the hot sand and the fantastic ventilation i had the best nights sleep.
Some of the others use plywood for the bases which im not keen on, and they don`t have the drip skirt around the base of the tent to prevent water ingress like the Howling moon does.

Hi Sonic I think we met at Tony's wood in september building his off road course, you took me and my son Billy round in you 90, I think.

We had decide upon the tourer tent but did read a report of water ingress through zips and seems, but they do seem to be well made compared to the hannibal which seemed very flexible when you got into it, the plywood bowed alot.

Glad to hear the tent performed well, how has it been off roading with the extra weight on the roof?

At the moment we use an oz tent which is good and very light but takes abit longer to set up which could get a bit much on longer trips, so we thought roof tents.

Mark

Ah i remember you now!! Thumbs Up
Yes there is some extra weight with it being on the roof rack but its only 40 / 50 Kgs which is about the same as 2No full jerry cans. I have just changed the 90 for a new 110 double cab XS and due to the extra wheel base and heavier suspension i don`t notice the tent as much. The best thing about the tent is the foam mattress Very Happy it is really comfortable.
The only photos i have of it open Discocussy has which he`s sending me later as soon as i have them i`ll post them.

Sounds good to me, how are getting on with the 110, I think they are alot better than the Td5 in alot of ways.

Looks the dogs bollocks as well. Was the lower room water tight, I read on the net someone had problems with water getitng in and forming a paddling pool, which my little boy would love but not when he is sleeping.

Trek overland did say that after the first drenching the tents and awnings are waterproof but we all know what sales people are like.

Looks like they are the best tents out there.

Only had it 6 days but im really impressed so far, the seats / ventilation / gearbox are far superior over the TD5 and the ride in a 110 is a lot smoother Thumbs Up

The heater is out of this world, well very good anyway. Have you taken it to mud or sand yet, I have been impressed very capable but abit more uncomfortable than the D3 but alot less worrying when you are scrapping rocks etc as it all metal.
