td5 fuel pump knocking sound.
I've had a issue with my td5 running rough like a misfire. The fuel pump sounded suspect, gurgling and screaming. So yesterday I replaced it with a brand new siemens VDO unit.
Yesterday the pump was near silent but didn't resolve the issue. Today however I've been out to start it and the pump was making a knocking sound. So I went through the purge procedure but it didn't stop. Took it for a run and it's still the same.
To touch the fuel lines you can feel a pulsing sensation in time with the fuel pump sound.any ideas?

Slightly off topic in the last few weeks the car has had the following in a attempt to resolve it.
New fuel pump.
New washers and injector seals.
New injector harness
No oil at red plug
Filter behind fpr cleaned.
New fuel filter 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)

Something obstructing the pickup in the tank?
How clean did the interior of the tank look when you replaced the lift pump? Any slime from algae or deisel loving organisms?
