Whining/buzzing noise 90 Puma 2.4 pickup
Hello all, right i was driving home the other day and i had the music pretty load but when i turned it down there was a weird whining noise coming from around the transmission cant say i know it coming from there but im pretty sure it is. THe noise get louder and faster as you get faster so you can hear it most when you take it out of gear and just cost if that helps.

Just wondering what you smart people think could be the problem? There is no obvious performance changes but it is obvious something is wrong.

Thanks

James

Might just be normal transfer box whine.

Does it have any oil leaks underneath?

Might be low on oil?

Don't go by the filler plug on the gearbox though as it has a different level arrangement than earlier versions! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Thanks for the reply, and no I don't think it's normal at all, only done 8000 miles and it's just started doing it loudly out of the blue. Also it hasn't lost any oil always keep an eye out for oil

Thanks James

Get it back to the dealers if it's only 8k on the clock. They should do it even if its out of warranty with only that may miles on worth a try and a call first. Has it got FSH

Can you fill in your profile with your car details it helps everyone see what car your driving and helps with any questions you may have Thumbs Up

In the end had to have a whole new transmission box i was away so could not fit myself and the track was needed so it was fixed at our local garage.

Landcover where not keen because of it being a 2011 plate even though it was not hardly any miles which was a right pin in the arse.

thanks for you replies though Smile
