Britpart twin shock kit
Moving two spare dampers from one side of the shed to the other, made me think about a twin shock set-up.

Googled the idea, and seems it's often done. Kits made for the job.

Any pics and advice on this mod please.

Better to go for a single uprated shock. If you need more than one standard then replacing it with two standards makes little sense.
If one goes then the second will be overloaded instantly, better to rely on a higher spec item from the start.

Foleys do a twin shock mod often it seems. Britpart sells the kit. Top shock mounts and weld-on tabs for the axle.
I have some take-off dampers and the kit is fairly reasonable. Just tips about the fitting the top mounts and is welding the axle tabs straight forward ...

Based on this logic......if you have one single "uprated" shock and it goes then you have no damping on that side.

It would seem that on a twin shock set up you are better off if one shock goes as you still have some damping.....

I also consider that not all aftermarket shocks are an up grade on the Standard Genuine LR Shocks. Another thing to consider is that if you mostly drive your vehicle on good roads with light loads then you may be wasting money trying for an upgraded shock and if you do upgrade you will most likely be impressed as you are usually replacing an old shock. Shocks work hardest on loaded vehicles used on fast rough roads - like you find in Africa not UK. 1995 300tdi Defender 90 P/UP
