I can't fault it for paint protection as long as you put on minimum eight fairly dry layers. It is definitely focused towards those people wanting to peel off and start again a different colour regularly (or in my case peel off the bramble rash and re-spray!) so for long term its probably best to get wheels powdercoated.

If you're after spraying a whole vehicle you're better off buying the plasti-dip specific spray kit like we did, (basically a glorified high flow pump and a low pressure spray gun) which I was nervous about using but its done the job perfectly.

I used about 5 litres of dip mixed 50/50 with thinners for eight coats for the body, and a litre of grey mixed 50/50 for the roof. I'll get round to re-spraying roof to match the wheels at some point You then need another litre or so of glossifier to go over the top to make it gloss rather than satin, but I haven't got to that stage yet. It needs over spraying another couple of layers to get rid of the scratches in it from a trip to the alps.

What I would say to anyone using plasti dip is for heaven's sake don't do less than six coats. Even it it runs, flies use it as a paddling pool or your dog licks it, if you don't get atleast six layers on you'll spend forever peeling it off because it won't be strong enough to come off like vynl. More than six coats and you're good to peel it off

Just adding on to that as I'm Joe's brother...... we've found it also needs the "protector" applying to it as the 130 did suffer some bramble marks in it, to prevent scratches (that said its saved the paint perfectly, totally unmarked). There's a product they do that you just wipe over the top of the finished dip. It assists in the hardening and prevents some of the bramble scratches, makes it last longer. We've not got this through yet, just about to order some glossifier product to try, if that looks ok we'll "protect" it as well.

Nice thing about plastidip for us was that we could buy it in clear. That meant that we could spray over badges, stickers, and any other features, and they'd be perfectly visible through the Dip, but were still completely protected. Other products (think i'm right in saying about Frost but not checked recently) you can't get clear in, so you're then colouring the vehicle whatever colour you pick, that's OK, except all your stickers get obscured (badges are easy you just peel off round them).

Cheers We've found with a good set of muds on it it'll go anywhere the shorter wheelbases do (although mine has traction control being 15MY). It's not very good at hairpin bends on mountain tracks though. Otherwise perfect.
