I dont think any defender has slef leveling suspension, although you could use other options to prevent excessive sag when towing, or heavily loaded.
Air suspension would be the perfect fix. That can be raised to compensate for heavy trailers etc. `air supsension is very expensive though Air bags can be retrofitted inside the rear springs. They are pumped up with an adapter and are a bit more cost-effective. Helper springs are another option. This is essentially a spring within the rear spring. Relatively cheap to do, although the down side is that when you arent carrying heavy load, you have a really stiff rear axle.. |

They do usually have a Boge unit if that is what you mean?

Its also usually referred to as an A-frame and as far as I can tell is fitted mainly to 110's to help control body roll when loaded. I don't think 110 vehicles have had this since the TDI days. And everyone removes them when they go wrong.
You mean the boge strut? |

Beat me! The boge unit was so they could have softer springs but still carry weight. The boge strut pumed up and takes the weight.
