I feel as if I am at a bit of a crossroads!

Love the patina, but much less so the dented panels.

So, thinking seriously about:

new bonnet - existing not rusty at all but dented

new rear hard top side panels - badly pock marked from inside and not keen to fit windows which would cure it 95%

new nsf wing outer

BUT, if I do all that I will need to paint the whole truck - though would be in the original colour.

Should I do it Question

If so, any idea of a budget cost for parts, fitting and painting nicely and who should do it?

It would add value and likely not all the cost, but that isn't the issue. I am more worried about using it less (like my Puma!) when it's all beautiful . . . . . . . . . . Rob

You're into personal opinion territory really, however my thoughts are that if you've got a 'posh' one to use when you're feeling so inclined then I wouldn't bother.

A Land Rover that is used properly for carrying, towing, travelling etc. will get dents and bumps and so long as panels aren't destroyed or big holes appear they don't detract from the appearance.

If keeping it original, then the small dings/dents are what makes it an 'honest' vehicle IMHO. But as stated it's up to you... Very Happy

It does look lovely now.. It's one of those dilemmas, you know once you start on one thing it will lead to another and another..........
I'm a bit precious about Alan but it doesn't stop me putting sacks of stinky manure, filthy wet dogs in the back, lengths of scaffolding boards on the roof or going for the logs with the trailer.. So I say go for it.. Thumbs Up 1993 200Tdi Defender 90

Bit of an update after my beloved has been away for about a month with a great local LR specialist who is also a really good friend:

Head gasket started chuffing at the rear so head skimmed and gasket replaced.
New head bolts, rocker gasket & valve stem seals.
Cam belt, tensioners and seals replaced as no idea when last done
Replaced alternator and water pump belts
New rear prop & water pump
Full service including all new glow plugs
Replaced front wheel bearings and seal
Mantec swingaway fitted
Replace front bumper with HD version from Dixon

Lovely to have a him home again and drives all the better for it

Thumbs Up Rob
