New tyres and wheels combo
Just wondering what are the largest sensible size tyres on a 16 wheel I can fit to my 90 without any mods.
I'm wanting to create a better looking stance along with a fuller wheel arch. Tyres I'm currently considering are cooper stt along with bfg mt.
but wheels I have no idea steel or alloys just don't know.
any info would be greatly appreciated Smile

If by largest you mean tallest (filling the arch vertically) then 255/85R16.

If my largest you mean widest then 265/75R16 are about the same height as the stock 235/85, or 285/75 is the same height as a 255/85 but wider.

Are you just going for a "look" or are you trying to get the tyres to do anything practically too? Narrow tyres will be better in most circumstances unless high speed cornering or maximum flotation are required. Wider tyres have a higher rolling resistance and make the steering lock worse unless you fit spacers or rims with a different offset.

When I changed from 7.50R16 to 255/85R16 it was noticeable how much more mud I got up the sides, and despite going from standard steels to Wolf steels the steering lock was worse too. I've since changed back to 7.50s.

255/85 or 285/75. Any larger will require mods of some kind. You will probably want 30mm spacers with either of these if using standard rims.

And spacers and larger rolling radius will void your warranty so return to standard at service time Thumbs Up

235/85/16 is just right for a defender IMO...

Not a fan of OTT tyres Cheers, David

Standard duty steel wheels will only take 7.50s.
HD steels will take 235s and 255s but nothing more.

Personally, I like the white roof, white wheels look with tall and narrow tyres, but that is a very personal thing.

255/85R16 to look good IMO, but I wouldn't want shorter and wider.

They look nice on the 110, I have just bought a set of black modular steels with cooper stt mud terains. 265x 75 x 16 from Devon 4x4.
so now have a set of 750x16 latitude cross for sale x 5.on white steels OEM. Unfortunately not able to post them yet on here . Sad

Depends on the width and of course the offset of the 16" wheel.

BFG KM2 305s on 8" width.

They're the narrowest tyre you can get in the tallest size you can fit under a stock Defender.
Although they're aren't actually that much taller than the 7.50s which surprised me. It should have been 2" difference but it wasn't anywhere near that.
