Not in WA, but Bell Auto Services, (site sponsor), can do what you want remotely.

As stated it can be done remotely, by more than one tuning provider, many people have used this convenient method myself included. Thumbs Up

Or Alive, both Bell and Alive do it remotely. It's not difficult to do yourself.

We have a couple of remote options that can do this. The first and more commons is along with a remap done at the same time using our new BAS2 RRC. The second is with the same unit purchased as a hardware only option with the added add on for EGR delete only.

As I'm not very computer savvy how easy is the remote option or would I be better off with the hardware option which i presume is a plug and play thing.

BAS Remote option is really easy, and if you get stuck I can give you a hand, (I'm in Perth).

Cheers,

Tim

Hi All!

I'm thinking of going this route but was told that before I could do any re-maps I had to update ECU to the latest version firmware. Is this true?

I'm in the process of upgrading but always encounter and EGR error on the Autologic so it doesn't fully update. Now I don't get a MIL light so it's not a failure but I'm guessing it just got mucked up when the turbo sprung a leak I used to have the chucka - chucka - chucka sound thingy but not anymore. Turbo is all sorted now but I think the first option in this case is to try and clean the EGR? Is there a post somewhere where they show the actual process of doing this? I tried to search but came up nil on any step by step guides, what is usually found is the mention that it was cleaned.

Now if I don't need to update the ECU to the latest firmware to get the benefits of a re-map, I don't need to touch the EGR anymore, correct?

Depends if it is stuck open slightly it will not close fully surely? You need the EGR to be serviceable to ensure it closes fully to get the benefit. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I replaced my EGR and 14 months later the new one got noisy. As I had the old one still I pulled it apart just prised off the metal cover clips. Degreased and cleaned out all the soot. Lubricated all moving parts with Lithium high temp grease and reassembled. Then had mechanic replace it. Still works good but I still want to turn it off for good.

Hi K9F, how do you know if it's fully closed or not?

Hi Landie, useful info, I'll do what you did and see what happens. It's quite a pain to get to though as I was looking at what either has to be removed or what you have to work around just to even get to it. Would it help to get to it from the bottom of the truck rather than from above?

Just a thought. Once you get the EGR off you can test operation touching 12v on the coresponding plug pins. This should make the plunger (driven by a little motor and gearbox) go up and down. Mine was hell noisy at first but after a clean and grease it was quiet as. Hope this helps
