TD5 Earth point.
Hi, Just put my engine back in and have a large earth lead from my battery that seems to connect to somewhere on the engine. It passes over the bellhousing, under the air box and needs to find the correct mounting point. I am 99% sure it does not go to the chassis as I would not have needed to remove it to pull the engine. My thoughts are that it would go to a bellhousing to starter motor bolt but they seem too large to fit the ring on the end of the cable.

If anyone could help or show me a photo of the correct location I would be really happy. It is the only thing I cannot figure out after a full engine rebuild!

Regards,

James

The cable that runs over the bell housing on a Td5 is usually the live cable to the solenoid on the starter James

Normally the main earth from battery comes from battery to chassis then on to transfer box in one cable lenght

unless someone has added a extra earth ,

take it you have checked what terminal it goes to in the battery box ?

Thanks guys but I have the starter fully connected. This is not a cable from the main loom but a massive black earth coming from the battery box. It doesn't fit the bellhousing bolts (ring too small) so I attached it to the chassis. The normal transfer box earths are present and the earth strap from the ECU to the chassis is also there. I am concerned that it must have been attached to one part of the engine as I obviously unbolted it. Its annoying because I photographed and labelled everything else and haven't had many other issues.
