Remove aerial?
Hi all,

Did a search for this, and had a fiddle under the bonnet as well - but as the most un-handy person in the UK I can't seem to figure out how to actually remove the aerial on my my09 110.

It doesn't seem easy to get to; there is some pipework in front of the assembly, plus the internal tube of the aerial extends quite a ways down into the bay.

is it possible to remove this thing without taking off the wing? Confused

I realise I've got to cut the cable, fine with that... just can't figure out how to get the aerial itself out.

there is a nut on top , the chrome top part , normally got a slot in each side ( just use pliers , minding paintwork ) then the aerial comes out under the wing

also I think there is some sort of mount under the wing where the bottom tube fixes to bulkhead as a steady

also might help to take wing top plastic blank out

that's if yours is still standard fit aerial

don't forget if your fitting a new aerial you can use the old cable once cut to pull though the new cable , makes fitting bit easier !

I just did all this as I've replaced mine with a powered aerial.

As mentioned, undo the nut on the top of the aerial, remove the plastic cover onto of the wing. Reach in under the aerial and feel your way down the aerial. There is a plastic clip that holds the aerial in place. I found a good yank and the aerial come free. 2013 Aintree Green 110 Station Wagon SX

Ah, OK - thanks.

I had undone that chrome nut, wasn't sure if I just pull the aerial up through there or not. I'll go out and give it another bash.

Mine appears to be a bog-standard aerial, nothing special to it save for it being seeming unable to pick up more than three radio stations.

Thanks - removing the plastic plate gave me enough room to get the aerial out.

Not thrilled with the Mr. Happy Shopper one I picked up at Halfords though, will have to get a better one, better than the factory one though.

Bosch autoflex or nakatenga if you want the best option Defender 90 TD5 County -
You need only two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesnt move and it should: WD-40.
If it moves and shouldnt: duct tape it.

That model Autoflex doesn't appear to be offered any longer?

Blaupunkt has something similar, maybe it is the same? The base looks different, can't really tell from the wee internet picture:

I've fitted a RetroSound PA-2 Powered Aerial - very happy with it - and I can raise/lower it via a switch on the dash rather than directly off the the radio. Means I can lower the aerial out of the way and still be able to listen to CDs etc 2013 Aintree Green 110 Station Wagon SX
