2.2 remap
I'm wanting to remap my 14 plate 90 2.2 so I have more power for towing as its all I do. I'm skeptical as to the problems it could cause me. Basically I'm worried I ruin my engine. Because I live miles from alive tuning and all the obvious ones I'm thinking of going to the performance Center in Sunderland. They have a 4x4 dyno and say they have done 2.2 defenders before but not loads of them. Do you think it's a sensible thing to do to a new car? Should I be going somewhere different for the remap? Thanks oh and I'm new to this forum by the way
Bas is in York which isn't too far away and comes very highly recommended. If you do a search on here then you'll see what I mean Ray

I had my 13 plate 2.2 mapped by Pete Bell of BAS in York Thumbs Up

As he has such a good knowledge of the 2.2 he is one of the very few that I would trust with the work.

You beat me to it Ray Laughing

Cheers I'll give them a ring. They are more expensive but I'd rather do it right first time. Can you feel the difference in your 2.2? Is it worth spending the money? Cheers for the help

Thanks I'm getting it done in the next few weeks if all goes well. Can anyone tell me if the remap will wear any parts and what parts? I've heard it has an affect on the Turbos in a bad way?

Not heard that one before for a Puma engined Defender but I have heard it about TD5's that have been mapped to within an inch of their lives.

I expect if you have a dodgy back street remap done you may have issues but a remap from one of the reputable suppliers on this forum should not really cause any issues as they will work well within the vehicles capability.

I would raise this question with whoever you decide to go with to get the correct answer and peace of mind (hopefully).

Hi

We would more than happily chat with you about what we can do for your 2.2 if you want to give us a call on 01472 812 900.

If you have any concerns about the process, myself or a member of the Alive team will happily talk you through it to make sure you know everything that is going on and i can assure you no risk will come to your vehicle.

Best Regards

Had my puma remaped by Pete at BAS!! Now covered 11000 miles and a lot of smiles.

Turned it into a torque monster and pulls all the way to 4000 rpm. When remaped you will realise how pathetic the 2.2 engine is in standard tune.
