50Th V8 The next Project
Well the next project is underway
A bit harder this one as she needs updating but must be kept in keeping with the 50th Anniversary look
So
Next year she’s undergoing a back to metal re-spray and a full interior re-trim already sourced carpet material from coverdale
However current changes
LED Exterior lamps
RDX as I wanted to maintain the original look
Truck Lite Head Lamps (Will probably go back to JW8700’s)
Jury’s out on the Reverse & Oblong Fogs as I can’t find a LED version
Heated Screen
Heated Seats Exmoor Elite in correct trim
Heated Mirrors
ICE upgrade Focal 6 ½ rears Morel Fronts with a Focal Slim Sub under the front seat
HU TBC
DynaMat
Extra switchgear in keeping with the 50th Theme
Now what to do about the exhaust sound

Incidentally, what's wrong with the Truck-Lites that's making you think about going back to the Speakers? I'm considering a staged upgrade (due to funds), by going for Crystals first, then later going for Truck-Lites.

As an aside, if you're looking to offload the Truck-Lites, give me a shout Wink

This is looking very interesting!

Love a V8 (who doesn't). Looking at the air con vents, I've never sat in a Defender with it fitted but I wonder if I would struggle to actually get my knees under the dash? Is it an issue? 2016 D4 HSE

She looks lovely Ken...... and it is such a releif you are keeping in-fitting Thumbs Up

I will enjoy watching this build.

I am with Johnszs- only making them with an auto box was a mistake- should have made a load with manual box Very Happy - I would only own one with a manual box, but at the same time wouldn't want to bas****dise one to manual- they are rare enough as they are.

*EDIT*- Lets have a picture of the engine 'Drool' Thumbs Up

Auto defenders are great. So easy to drive and is kinder to the rest of the transmission. Never understood why people have it in for them.

50th is great look forward to seeing how the project takes shape.

Yep, I like autos, very nice to drive.

I have seen a lot of the Defender challenge guys use autos as its better in off-road conditions too, I believe.

But, as said, its good to have a choice for those who want to stir the stick... Shocked

cheers
