Sounds like they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Similar situation here this week on the highway Geneva-Lausanne. Driver said he does not know what happened, his trailer began to swing and that became uncontrollable.... Speed I guess.

But they normally make very good cheeseburgers, so hope they find quick replacement. Thumbs Up

And more proof that if something unexpected happens, a Defender is hard (impossible) to keep in check. The below was in Belgium due to the city bus which did not yield, and the Defender driver tried to avoid the bus by a sharp zig zag maneuver....

Now, the good news. In both accidents, nobody got hurt. Thumbs Up
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I wonder if those boards on both sides of the roof rack had anything to do with the first accident?

Speed is a distinct possibility but the more probable is that the trailer has not been loaded correctly i.e. not having the weight over the axels but either in front or behind them which is the case of most trailer/caravan accident were the tail wags the dog. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.
