I have an LR semi-rigid cover on a wheel/tyre combination (275x65x18") with a diameter of 815mm (32.1'') which is therefore 9mm (1.1%) taller than the 235x85x16" standard size of 806mm (31.7''). Now admittedly it is only 'just' on but given that your overall diameter is smaller than this you should be able to fit yours. The trick is to hold the flat rigid part flat against the wheel with the wrap around part inside out and then progressively fold this over the wheel. I hope I'm not guilty of trying to teach my grandmother how to suck eggs but it might be worth a try.

try Paddock spares they have semi rigid with or without paddock logo. Jeff

Thanks for the replies.
My issue is that I already have a semi-rigid cover that I have used on my old 265/75x16 and it doesn't fit the new tyres. Various suppliers have said that yes, their cover will fit as all 265/75x16 tyres are the same size (they're not) or no, their cover won't fit my tyres (which according to them are oversized). I have even spoken to a manufacturer who states that their largest one (which is a standard LR item sold by many outlets) will not fit. I had a similar problem when I first bought a set of BFG AT's in 265/75x16 over 15-years ago. Normal semi-ridged covers didn't appear to fit but then one specialist asked what make of tyre I had, I replied that they were BFG and he said that they produced a special cover for that tyre as it was slightly larger than normal. I tried it there & then and it fitted perfectly (it even had a sticker in it stating that it was for BFG only). Unfortunately this specialist (which was local to me) is no-longer around. It was really to see if anyone had a plain semi-rigid cover that fitted this particular tyre and if so, where did it come from? ONE LIFE, GET IT! |
