Wow, £90 for an antenna... Shocked
Talking about a budget antenna... Some months ago I bought this one for under € 10. Cool
Black fiberglass and fits very well in de hole of standard LR antenna. Length 90 cm. Very good reception too. Thumbs Up

90 Euros (not pounds but still pricey, admittedly).
I've tried various cheaper options last time mine was vandalised and was never happy. I know Hirschmann are a damned good make so am crossing my fingers.
On another note, wifey's 1974 Käfer has a windscreen antenna/amp that can pick up a signal from Voyager. Never been able to find one as good though and there's no manufacturer's mark Rolling Eyes Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Please give any feed back on ariel. I've got the Entreq one on mine, and I'm not impressed.

If the standard arial has bad reception there are usually 3 reasons:

antenna broken Wink
dodgy ground where antenna is bolted in fender
broken cable

The OE antenna has prtetty good reception!

So if you fit ANY new antenn, take that the metal on the inside of the fander is clean and provides good ground connection. WANTED:

SII or SIII in max 1.5k

Well it still works after a few months and it's survived some scratchy greenlaning that claimed the top of my RAI

Seems the same Hirschmann antenna as already long time available from Entreq. So there is choice. Thumbs Up

So are they the same item?
If so they don't work as well as good the original ariel or as good as a 3' CB whip. They don't break and look good, just the reception is not as good.

See no difference. Compare on both sites, just the base is slightly different, and the price.... Some here have the Entreq antenna installed, so they can comment on quality of reception.
In my case, my standard antenna gives excellent reception, and added advantage is that I can retract it, so catching less wind, which is more fuel economy. Laughing Now, where is Caterham when you need him? Cool You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

On my 90 I have one that looks similar to JWLs. I got it from http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk a few years ago when I upgraded my head unit to a DAB ready one. It was about £60 I think, and has a splinter so you can connect to your radio for AM/FM and DAB on separate wires. Reception is good, everything I need anyway.

With the recent release on more DAB frequencies there are now loads of DAB stations (local and national) and the quality is superb. If I were in the market for a new aerial now, but hadn't yet got an actual DAB unit, I would still get dual aerial as "future proofing" Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

Great site Thumbs Up
I especially love the way they describe the compatibility of sone of the adapters as "totally/somewhat unpredictable" Laughing
