MY15 110 Removing door cards for sound proofing
Hi all,

Just about to add some sound proofing the the doors and was wondering how the cards are attached? I have seen some pictures and it seems there is some black sort of glue/sealant around the outside. Is that the case or do they just pop of with some force and trim removal tools?

All help appreciated Mr. Green

Cheers,
Ant

Trim removal tools, one of those things 59/50 between force and care.
Protect the paint just in case in places if you need to and that should be it.
Don't forget to remove the door handle, the handle opening recess piece and the locking pin slider shroud section first.
Once off, behind there you will find sone thin foamy stuff which is pathetic sound deadening insulation stuff.
All the same carefully tease the sealant off all the way around taking care not to rip,it do you can put it back on.
The adhesive stuff is something that should* stick back on as it seems to stay sticky.

Once all of that is off your back to the bare door inners.

If your actually sound proofing them you might not need the foam bit again but that's up to you.
Don't forget some heat and a roller if you don't have enough already. Laughing

Thumbs Up

Hi,

I found when I did mine that if you stretch the sealant it will slice easily with a sharp Stanley blade, also leaves a bit stuck to the door thus giving you a location guide when sticking the foam back on... Defender Puma 110XS SW

I found that LR had already put some sound dampening on at th factory so put it all back together and left it alone. Whistle 2.2 90 XS
