Unidentified object
This little thing has been staring me in the face for the past 6 months. Came with the a 2001 td5 when I bought it last December. Haven't gotten around to it as the Defender has been drawing my attention elsewhere...

The counter is not the time and when I press the button on the right it it starts counting down....any ideas?

I have no idea sorry. Heater control of some descript perhaps? What happens if you allow it to count down to zero.

Looks like a control unit from an early Espar D2/D4 maybe?

You guys were right! Eberspächer!

Had no clue it had been sitting there all this time. Did a full service, changed the clutch master cylinder and replaced the drive belt without ever noticing it.

The real joke is that I have been driving around dressed like an Eskimo all winter.

If it works you'll be toasty. I ran a D4 in my boat a few years back - super piece of kit when it's working well, expensive parts and service

The D5WS is a different beast to the D4 which I ran on my boat. Yours heats water (I think) and mine basically burned diesel to produce hot air.
Good luck with getting it to work, loads of info on the Net, including YouTube
