Dipped headlights with full beam...is this right??
Hi,

Firstly apologies for the lack of technical knowledge - hence my request for help / advice!

I noticed for the first time last night that when driving at night and switching on the full beam - the dipped beam goes off. However, when the dipped beam is on and I pull the stalk lever back (as if you were flashing someone using the full beam) the dipped beam remains on - thus the road is much more illuminated.

This doesn't seem right to me as surely they should both work together normally (i.e. when the light stalk is pushed forward for constant full beam??

I've never changed a bulb so not sure if it's to do with the bulbs currently fitted or whether this is something more serious / technical!

Any advice / solution greatly appreciated - many thanks.

so I'll need to drive along with the stalk pulled back to get more light Laughing

I guess upgrading to LEDs etc is the option of improved light at night!

As above all is normal. But it is a shame that you loose light with the way they are. But if wired so both elements were permanently on they would fail due to the heat.

Crystal clear lights, and osram night breaker bulbs are plenty good enough for me. I think other people struggle with the headlight brightness due to driving other inferior vehicles with posh headlights, simply solved by being more faithfull.
